SEND Offer at Castleview
Vision
Our vision is built on opportunity, ambition and trust. We believe that inclusion is everyone’s responsibility and that diversity enriches our school community. Our approach to SEND is aspirational, inclusive and empowering, ensuring that all children are given the tools and support they need to thrive and succeed.
Inclusive Education at Castleview Primary School
At Castleview Primary School, every pupil is valued as an individual with unique strengths, interests and potential. We are a proud, inclusive two-form entry Primary and Nursery School committed to ensuring that all pupils – including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – achieve their very best and flourish within our caring and ambitious learning community.
We are dedicated to:
- Delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the needs of all learners and removes barriers to achievement.
- Providing targeted and specialist support to ensure that every pupil can access the full curriculum and make strong progress from their starting points.
- Working in partnership with pupils, families and external professionals to promote consistency, understanding and shared high expectations.
- Supporting every pupil’s academic achievement, personal development and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they are confident, resilient and ready for the next stage of their education.
SEND Provision at Castleview Primary School
We offer two levels of provision:
- Mainstream Provision – Inclusive teaching with adaptations, interventions, and access to specialist strategies.
- Resource Base – A 29-place provision offering structured support for pupils with complex needs, primarily linked to Autism, requiring an adapted curriculum and low-arousal environment.
If your child has an EHCP, admissions are managed by Slough Borough Council via the EHCP consultation process. This is for both Mainstream and Resource Base provision.
Partnership Working
At Castleview Primary School, we believe that strong partnerships with pupils and families are central to effective support and positive outcomes. Pupils and parents are active participants in shaping provision, and their voices are valued at every stage, from early identification and planning to review and evaluation.
Whether it’s through parent meetings, coffee mornings or support with referrals, we strongly believe in the value of excellent communication and collaboration.
Inclusion
Inclusion is central to our school values. We make sure every child feels welcome, supported and able to succeed. We provide a range of carefully planned and personalised interventions and support so that each child’s individual needs are met and they can thrive in all areas of school life. This includes
- Speech, Language and Communication support
- Makaton and visual supports
- Adapted curriculum planning
- Physical resources and prompt to support learning
- Bucket Time/Attention Autism
- Sensory circuits
- Emotional regulation support
Communication
At Castleview Primary School, we value all forms of communication. We use a range of tools and strategies, adapting them to meet each child’s individual needs. Every child, whatever their stage of communication, is encouraged to use their preferred way of communicating to express themselves and take part in school life.
In the Resource Base, we follow a Total Communication approach to promote and celebrate all ways of communicating. This approach helps children by making communication more effective, reducing frustration and supporting social interaction. By using a combination of speech, sign language, gestures, pictures and assistive technology (where appropriate), children can build confidence, develop their language skills and fully engage in learning and play.

Resource Base Curriculum
At Castleview Primary School, we are passionate about providing every child with a personalised curriculum that meets their individual needs. We plan learning experiences that build on each pupil’s interests and strengths, helping them to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills that prepare them for the next stage of their education.
As mentioned above, we place a strong focus on communication and interaction, supporting children to express themselves, make choices, and have their voices heard. Our aim is for every child to feel valued and confident in who they are.
We also help pupils to develop their independence, particularly in self-regulation and self-care, so that they are well prepared for life beyond Castleview. Above all, we have high aspirations for all our children, helping them to believe in themselves and reach their full potential.
