At Castleview Primary School, our curriculum is central to achieving our school vision of excellence for every child. We are ambitious for all pupils and believe that every child deserves the very best education and the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background or starting point.
Our intent is for all pupils to leave Castleview Primary School equipped with the knowledge, skills and character needed to overcome challenges, lead fulfilling lives and make a positive contribution to society.
We deliver the full breadth of the National Curriculum, ensuring that it is broad, balanced and coherently sequenced to promote deep learning and secure progression. Each subject has been carefully planned to build pupils’ knowledge and skills cumulatively over time, enabling them to make meaningful connections across the curriculum.
Our curriculum design is rooted in the needs and context of our community. While meeting all statutory requirements, we ensure that the curriculum reflects our pupils’ experiences and aspirations, providing opportunities to explore the wider world and develop cultural capital. This includes access to a rich variety of experiences such as educational visits, theatre performances, museum trips and community engagement projects.
We are committed to promoting pupils’ academic, personal and cultural development, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the next stage of their education and for life in modern Britain.
By the end of Year 6, our aim is that every pupil is secondary ready and equipped with:
- A strong grasp of reading, writing and mathematical knowledge, enabling them to access and succeed across the curriculum.
- Well-developed communication skills, allowing them to express their ideas clearly and effectively in a range of contexts.
- The ability to plan, monitor and evaluate their own learning, showing increasing independence as reflective learners.
- Confidence, resilience and a willingness to take on new challenges and persevere when faced with difficulties.
- The values needed to thrive in the future and to make a meaningful contribution to society.
