The children will be set weekly spellings to practise throughout the week. We have also sent home a weekly spelling homework sheet for additional practice, along with the answer sheet so you can go through the spellings together at home.
Your weekly spellings are listed below.

4. Handwriting
We are focusing on developing neat letter formation and joined cursive writing. To support this, the children will be bringing home a handwriting practice sheet each week. Please encourage your child to spend some time practising their handwriting on this sheet, as regular practice will help improve both fluency and presentation in their written work.
5. Maths Support
If you would like to support your child further in Maths, please use the White Rose videos to recap and reinforce the learning we have covered in class this week.
Multiples of 5 & 10 https://vimeo.com/732395261
Sharing and grouping https://vimeo.com/732395301
Multiply by 3 https://vimeo.com/732395341
Divide by 3 https://vimeo.com/732395377
Please pracitise your multiplications (2 times tables through to 12 timestable). You will need to know these multiplications going forward, backwards and out of order. Please use times tables rock stars to practise. You will need your Purple Mash log in details for this.
6. Reading
The children will be given a weekly reading book at their current Summer Book Level. Once their Reading Renaissance accounts have been updated for this year, they will be able to start taking quizzes. Until then, the children will change their books after they have finished reading them. Please encourage your child to read every night, as regular reading helps to build fluency, confidence, and enjoyment. We have also attached a list of recommended reads for Year 3, should you wish to purchase any additional suitable books for your child. Please also remind your child to change their books weekly as we are also doing the same in class.
Remember to talk about the book. Some questions for parents to ask.
What might happen next?
How do you think the character is feeling? Why do you think that?
What happened in the story?
Can you find a word that means the same as ............?
What is the definition of .........? If you don't know, can you find it in the dictionary?
Did you enjoy the story? Why?
Have you read a different story that has similar themes in to this story?
Remember to refer back to the text when answering the questions.
Below are some useful reading cards to improve your child's comprehension skills.
