Wednesday 3rd June 2026 - Alan Mackenzie Visit

Last week, Online-Safety expert, Alan McKenzie visited Castleview and delivered three thought provoking workshops on this ever-evolving topic of keeping children safe while online.

Alan started in the hall with Year 5. The focus of his first talk was the uses of AI and how to spot deep fake images. Year 5 were treated to a fun game of “True or Fake?”
Next, Year 6 were presented with a talk on how online companies “hook” you into spending more time online through social engineering. The children were challenged to consider how tech companies influence your behaviour to get you onto their sites, keep you on their sites and get you to keep coming back.

Alan also found time to catch up with the Year 5 and 6 Digital Leaders.

Finally, after school, we followed with a PDM meeting for the staff. The focus of which was to ensure that, staff are aware of the many problems our children may encounter online and how best to help protect them in our increasingly technological world that we live in.
