Castleview
Through teaching PSHE at Castleview, we create a happy, purposeful, supportive environment where all children are able to develop an understanding of the ever-changing world in which we live, develop the skills necessary to take an active role in their community and manage their life effectively.
Pupil Voice:
At Castleview, children across the school are given the opportunity to use their voice and become an active House Captain, Digital Leader or Junior Leader. As part of their role: they may be asked to hold an assembly in order to share an important message; carry out research or help plan and deliver tasks around the school.
Castleview awareness & celebrations:
As part of our PSHE curriculum, at Castleview, we hold a number of awareness and celebration days. Annually, we raise awareness and money for the following charities, Jeans for Genes, Children in Need, Save the Children (Christmas Jumper Day) and Comic Relief through dressing up and taking part in activities at school. We also have a number of celebratory days including Culture Days. As a school, we also highlight important events such as Children’s Mental Health Week where children engage in a number of activities across the week highlighting the importance of mental health and strategies to engage or cope.
External visitors:
Throughout the year, we invite external companies in to Castleview to carry out assemblies and workshops. Sessions range from promoting physical skills (Balance Bikeability / Bikeability) to assemblies where mental health is explored and discussed (The Fantastic FRED Experience). Each half term, children from each year group go out on educational visits, linked to their topics. This often provides children with experiences they may not have outside of the school. For example, watching musicals in London’s West End.
Residentials:
Across Key Stage 2, children are offered the opportunity to go away on a residential trip. In Year 3, the children enjoy a day of water sports at Bray Lake. They also enjoy a family picnic in the school hall! Year 4 travel to Reading where they spend two nights at Ufton Court. Each year, Condover Hall welcome Year 5 for three nights where children challenge themselves and take part in activities such as archery, abseiling and aerial trek. Year 6 travel to Dorset to visit Osmington Bay.Castleview School's Residential Opportunities
